In my work as a scientist and entrepreneur, I’m interested in the opportunities and associated risks of emerging technologies in tackling global challenges. I’m the Founder and Chief Science Officer of Equitech Futures, a global fellowship and applied research lab working on tech for societal challenges. I also hold an appointment at the University of Chicago, where I’m the founding director of the Xu Initiative on Science, Technology, and Public Policy. A more detailed bio can be found here

I received my Ph.D. from Caltech, where I worked on problems in theoretical and observational cosmology. Before that, I received an M.Phys. from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.

I currently serve on the boards of two startups: NawiriTech and Measuring Carbon. Additionally, I’m on the advisory board for the Rhodes Technology and Society Forum and I’m a board member of the Merton College Charitable Corporation. I was born and raised in western Odisha, India, and live in Chicago.
